Albany Airport interim CEO, new COO, share vision for future

As Featured On:

ALBANY, NY (CBS 6) — A day after former Albany Airport CEO Phil Calderone was fired, Albany Airport’s new interim leadership addressed the public on Thursday in a press conference.

Acting CEO Peter Stuto and COO John O’Donnell shared their vision, providing updates on current Capital projects, and discussed their plan to provide stability as the Board searches for a new CEO.

But, some are concerned the recent leadership changes will provide a barrier to expansion conversations with airlines.

Phil Calderone’s lawyer tells CBS6 the now-former CEO was in a hospital bed when he learned he had been fired from his position. CBS6 also spoke with Greg Rinckey, a local attorney who specializes in federal employment law. Rinckey, who co-founded Tully Rinckey PLLC, says he’s seen plenty of cases like this before, and that the first thing he sees here is litigation.

“The other thing he’s got going for him is he’s got a contract, there’s a breach of contract here, now of course, the Airport Authority is going to say no, you’ve breached a contract by your actions,” Rinckey says. “That’s where the play of litigation and settlement come in.”
