Sean Gleason is Senior Counsel in Tully Rinckey’s Rochester office with over 30 years of serving clients and the legal community. His expertise spans various domains of civil litigation, including wrongful death, medical malpractice, personal injuries, labor law, highway design, large construction contracts, professional licensing disputes, securities regulation, mental hygiene hearings, and eminent domain cases.
In his distinguished career, he has served the New York legal community in various roles. In addition to private practice, Sean has been a Counsel to a Judge in the New York State Court of Claims, a Judicial Hearing Officer, Principal Law Clerk at the New York State Supreme Court, and an Assistant Attorney General. In these roles, he has managed a diverse litigation caseload across multiple jurisdictions, defending private citizens in the state of New York in numerous civil actions.
Sean is committed to his continuous professional development. He completed the National Institute of Trial Attorneys (NITA) training, enhancing his litigation skills, and undergone mediation training provided by the Center for Dispute Resolution, equipping him with the skills to facilitate the resolution of disputes outside the courtroom.
In addition to his caseload, he has assisted in training the legal profession’s next generation. At St. John Fisher University in Rochester, he was a former Instructor of Paralegal Studies and returned as a guest lecturer in the fall of 2011 to speak on Legal Research. In the fall of 2022, he was a guest lecturer at Cornell Law School, where he spoke on Court of Claims Practice. He also frequently speaks on Court of Claims Practice for Continuing Legal Education (CLE).
Outside of his professional life, Sean is a passionate tennis fan and a talented musician. He resides in Mendon, NY, with his wife Cindy, where they raised their three children: Sean, Quinn, and Aerin.
