SYRACUSE, N.Y. — According to guidance from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, employers can mandate their employees get vaccinated for COVID-19.
Employees would not be compelled to get inoculated if they had a religious exemption or a physical condition that would make getting vaccinated unsafe.
According to Tom Murphy, a labor lawyer at the Tully Rinckey Law Firm, the state would have to act for it to happen here.
“It would have to be based in New York State law,” he said. “They would have to pass a law allowing New York state employers to mandate the vaccine.”
