Men and women in the military have sought legal advice regarding a religious exemption when it comes to being required to get the COVID-19 vaccine, and it appears that their prayers have been answered.
Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio stated in a press release, “The denial of religious accommodations, or punitive or adverse personnel actions taken against those who raise earnest, conscience-based objections, would be contrary to federal law and morally reprehensible.”
“No one should be forced to receive a COVID-19 vaccine if it would violate the sanctity of his or her conscience,” Broglio said.
While he states that the vaccines were created using abortion-derived cell lines, Catholics can still get them if they choose.
Anthony Kuhn, Managing Partner and Chair of the military law practice at Tully Rinckey, said the military attorneys with the firm have won numerous cases for military members seeking waivers for medical and religious exemptions.
