With over thirty-

Michael J. Tommaney is a partner in
the firm and concentrates his
practice in the areas of general
corporate and transactional business

estate and gift tax, estate
planning, estate administration
and
both commercial and residential real
estate law.
Mike has performed diverse general corporate and transactional work, including counseling closely held businesses and succession planning, purchase and sale of assets and contract preparation and negotiation.
Mike was born and raised in Albany, New York. He graduated cum laude from both Vincentian Institute in Albany, New York and Siena College in Loudonville, New York. After graduating from college, he attended Albany Law School, where he graduated ninth in his class and was a member of the Albany Law Review.
Since graduating from law school, Mike has been engaged in the private practice of law with a prominent Albany area law firm for over thirty-five years. Mike has also served as a part time Administrative Law Judge for the New York State Liquor Authority. Mike is also a member of both the Albany County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.
He has extensive
real estate transactional experience ranging from individual sales and purchases to significant commercial sales, purchases financings and refinancing including acting as company counsel in several industrial development agency loan closings. He also represented clients in obtaining letters patent from the state of New York in order to obtain title lands formerly under water.
Mike also has done extensive planning and drafting of
wills and trusts and has handled numerous substantial estates throughout New York state from estate probate through final estate termination, including preparation of United States and New York State Estate tax returns, fiduciary income tax returns, informal and judicial accountings, tax audits and appeals. Mike is also a member of the Estate Planning Council of Eastern New York.
Mike serves on the Village of Colonie Planning Commission and previously served as Treasurer of the Hudson-Mohawk Chapter of the Sudden Infant Death Foundation (SIDS) for more than ten years. He is a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in America, Inc., Division 5, the Albany Polish American Citizens Club, Inc., and Albany Lodge No. 49 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, where he serves as Justice of the Subordinate Forum and Scholarship Chairman. He is also a member of the German-American Club of Albany, New York
Mike, who has three grown children, resides in the Albany area with his wife, Sandy.
